New Zealand- Mar 1 - Picton

POL:

Today was a pretty relaxed day.  We were in Picton, New Zealand.  We had no excursions planned so we took the shuttle into town.  The shuttle was required as the cruise terminal was at the back end of a saw mill.  The port was filled with pine logs that were being sorted by size.  They were all waiting to be exported.

We were told that the population of the town doubled when the cruise ship pulled into port.

There were two main streets in Picton.  One street had shops and restaurants.  The other street had gas stations and some offices.  Neither street was more than three or four blocks long.

After we finished going through all the shops in town (which didn't take long) we found a hiking trail and lit off down the trail.  After maybe three quarters of a mile we decided we had seen enough of 'Bob's Bay' and headed back to the ship - through the sawmill.

Dinner was the highlight, or at least desert was.  Some kind of chocolate and caramel cake.  Not bad.

After dinner we took in a show and called it a day.
