Switzerland to Paris - October 10

October 10

After a quick breakfast we made our way to the Louvre Museum.  We had tickets for a ten o’clock entry.  For whatever reason they were not letting people in when we got into line.  But once they opened the doors the line moved quite quickly and we were in.

We made our way to see the Mona Lisa as we had heard that the room that houses the painting would fill up with people quickly.  We made our way there thanks to the directional signs showing us the way.  The crowd was not too bad.  We only had to wait maybe thirty seconds before we had a spot up front to take our pictures.

We then proceeded to make our way throughout the museum.  There were many incredible and famous paintings and sculptures.

Venus de Milo.

Wings of Victory

Cupid and Psyche

Egyptian art

Greek Art

Zombie girl holding Brains

(actually the name of the statue was Flora.  I was just testing you to see if you were reading the blog)

We only got lost a few times.  After five or six hours we did not see it all.

We ended our day by visiting the Arc de Triumph.  There was one spiral staircase to go up and one to go down.  It was a climb going up.  Down was easier but took about the same amount of time.  The view was good.

It was easy to forget the reason the Arc was built.  It was and is a tribute to those who served and perished during the first World War.  Later tributes were added for those who served during World War II, including the Allies.  The French Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is there at the Arc.

We walked back to the hotel from the Arc as it was only just over a mile.  We had a nice dinner with Wilma and Leonard and returned to the hotel.  An hour of packing and we were ready to turn in as 5:45 would come early the next day.  For it is tomorrow that we return home.

Tomorrow will be another adventure.
