Switzerland to Paris - October 4

Friday, October 4

We continued our journey down the Mainz river.  In the afternoon we stopped at Koblenz, Germany.

Before we arrived we sailed past a number of castles.  Some of the castles were over seven hundred years old.  Some were still being used as castles and for a small price you could go inside and get a tour.  A few had been turned into hotels.  All of them were old and still pretty awesome.

Castle on the hill with a church by the river.

Two castles at once.  One on the hill and one on an island in the river.

This was perhaps my favorite.  It looked as though it had just gotten a new coat of paint.

In the afternoon, while at Koblenz we took a tour of one of the castles.  It was only five hundred years old.

On our way back to the ship we saw a statue of Kaiser Willhelm II.  It was huge!

(that’s me in front of the statue)

All in all it was a good, relaxing day.  I would say we would have to give the day ‘two thumbs up’!

Tomorrow we make our way further up river to Cochem, Germany.

Tomorrow will be another adventure.
