Machu Picchu - Galapogos - September 30, 2025
September 30, 2025
Today was a travel day. We arose about 3:00 in the morning in order to have our luggage in the hall by 4:15. We really didn’t plan on getting up quite that early, but we woke up and figured it must be time to make things happen.
After a quick breakfast of a so-so chocolate chip muffin and water we boarded our bus and headed toward the airport.
We flew from Cusco to Lima. It was an uneventful flight of just over an hour. We hit some minor turbulence, but no more than usual. Once in Lima we had to collect our baggage, leave the airport terminal, and go back into the terminal to check our bag for the next leg of our trip. It made no sense to me, I could not understand why the airline could not just send our luggage to the final destination. Maybe I don’t need to know or perhaps there is no explanation. We may never know. We were just glad our luggage arrived.
We headed to ‘checkpoint charlie’ where they actually let us bring full water bottles through the checkpoint. We were a little shocked. We found our gate and waited until it was time to board. An interesting fact about flying in Peru is that if you are over 60 you can get priority boarding regardless of what boarding group you are in. So YAY to old people.
The flight from Lima to Guayaquil, Ecuador was also uneventful. Just an ordinary hour long flight. Once everyone had collected their luggage it was back on a bus for the fifteen minute ride to our hotel.
I must say, this is the nicest hotel we’ve been in for quite a while. Big room, comfortable bed, good lighting. The one downside is that nearly all their TV shows are in espanol. Hmm, who would have figured that?
After dinner it was back to our room and get ready for bed.
We have been told that the internet in Galapagos is spotty at best. You may not get another blog for a few days. But I will send one out as best I can.
Tomorrow will be another adventure.
